Il y évoque l'origine et le développement de son art, ainsi que l'histoire du mouvement surréaliste en Belgique. Intitulée « La Ligne de Vie » , cette conférence - la seconde après celle de l'Exposition Internationale du Surréalisme à Londres - est la plus importante que Magritte ait jamais donnée sur son œuvre.
