This publication marks the beginning of the cooperation between the Goetz Collection and the newly founded Nordstern VideoKunstZentrum in Gelsenkirchen. The first exhibition in the remodeled Shaft II tower of the former Nordstern Coal Mine is called Schichtwechsel (Change of Shift), a reference to the site's former function as a place where physical labor was performed. The volume features the works on exhibit, including Steve McQueen's Caribs' Leap/Western Deep, Arbeiter verlassen die Fabrik in 11 Jahrzehnten (Workers Leaving the Factory in Eleven Decades) by Harun Farocki, and Artur Zmijewski's Dieter, Patricia, Ursula. It also contains an essay by Rainald Schuhmacher on the transformation of the Ruhr region, and introductory texts by Ingvild Goetz and Karl-Heinz Petzinka.
