For his issue of carte blanche, Thomas Ruff combined press photos of Queen Elizabeth II and her family from the 1940s with pages printed all over in pink. These press photos from an era without Photoshop were often retouched by hand. With some pictures you almost have to be able to speak of painting over or overpainting. When looking at this selection, an entire family saga passes by with all its tragic cases up to the memory of the recently deceased Prince Philip.
