Das New Yorker Atelier, Abridged

Wade Guyton

ISBN: 9783960982128 (PB - E)

American artist Wade Guyton uses digital technologies - iPhones, cameras, computers and consumer-grade Epson printers - as tools to create both large-scale paintings on linen and smaller compositions on paper. Guyton is interested in the translations that take place between these tools, transforming three-dimensional space into digital information that is subsequently reproduced on surfaces and in space. This book is inspired by traditional exhibition guides and is designed to be a portable accompaniment to the exhibition, and a record of the works included in the gallery. It includes a foreword by Serpentine Galleries CEO, Yana Peel and Artistic Director, Hans Ulrich Obrist; as well as two newly commissioned texts: Alex Kitnick has contributed an essay that draws links between the sites of production and exhibition of Guyton's work; and Flame have written about the modes of temporality within Guyton's practice. This book has been designed by Henrik Nygren Design.

Wade Guyton, born 1972 in Hammond, Indiana. Lives and works in New York.
