Guido Guidi is one of the most important photographers of his generation. In 2012 he was invited to photograph the interiors of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz: a task he has since undertaken in various sessions. The Institute is one of the earliest establishments for research on the history of Italian art and architecture, which is here studied in its wider European, Mediterranean and global outreach. The publication contains a selection of Guidi Guidi?s photographs, taken between 2012 and 2016. They guide the reader through the Institute's library, garden, and photographic archive. The publication marks the 120th anniversary of the foundation of the Institute in 1897; it has been part of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft since 2002.
