Publisher La Lettre Volée - Nethca
Description

NeTHCA (Network for Theory, History, and Criticism of Architecture) is a group of researchers, teachers and practitioners concerned with architecture and the city. Founded in 1998, neTHCA organizes and supports initiatives intended to stimulate high-quality research and critical debate in the field, notably through biennial international colloquia : Inside Density (1999), Tourism Revisited (2001), Critical Tools (2003) and The Unthinkable Doctorate (2005).

The present volume is part of a series of selected proceedings of these colloquia, published in collaboration with La Lettre Volée. After Inside Density (2003), Tourism Revisited looks at the effects of a rapidly globalizing tourist industry on architectural and urban landscapes, in relation to such critical issues as local identity, typological mixing, and the commodification of culture.
