Na het internationale succes van de designtentoonstelling The World of Charles and Ray Eames in 2017, weet C-mine opnieuw een groot internationaal project aan te trekken. De rondreizende tentoonstelling over het werk van Tim Burton was reeds te zien in New York, Parijs, Tokio, São Paulo en Praag.
The World of Tim Burton presenteert meer dan 400 werken in een samenhangende tentoonstelling van tekeningen, schilderijen, foto's, poppen, maquettes, geanimeerde films en sculpturale installaties.
In Around the World geven illustraties in notaboekjes, schrijfblokken van hotels, servieten van restaurants,… de spontaniteit van Tim Burton zijn creatieve proces weer. In de sectie Film Characterskrijgt de bezoeker meer inzicht in het ontstaan en de ontwikkeling van vele bekende filmpersonages. En in het onderdeel Influences kom je te weten waar Tim Burton inspiratie uit put, hier is ook meteen het vroegste werk van hem terug te vinden.

With a visual style inspired by the aesthetics of animation and silent comedy, Tim Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking over the past three decades, melding the exotic, the horrific and the comic, and manipulating expressionism and fantasy with the skill of a graphic novelist. Published to accompany a major retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art, this volume considers Burton’s career as an artist and filmmaker. It narrates the evolution of his creative practices, following the current of his visual imagination from his earliest childhood drawings through his mature oeuvre. Illustrated with works on paper, moving-image stills, drawn and painted concept art, puppets and maquettes, storyboards, and examples of his work as a graphic artist for his nonfilm projects, this exhibition catalogue sheds new light on Burton and presents previously unseen works from the artist’s personal archive.
