Description
The Brussels based Emile Verhaegen architectural practice has wished, on the occasion of its 50st year of activity, to show his buildings through the eyes of a photographer and five Belgian writers because Architecture for
Life is, indeed, as much an architectural planning principle to which the firm is attached, as a commitment to a lasting humane architecture that takes into account the specific needs of the users and the inhabitants of the
buildings. Sébastien Reuzé's photography springs from subtle observations, contemplative attitudes, and random itineraries. The artist's photographs use various supports, ranging from views of the sky or land to apartment
complexes, administrative buildings, domestic interiors, motorways, and airport runways. His photographic methodology modifies the spectator's approach, as well as our perceptions of and relationships with space
and our daily surroundings.
Paul Emond has published a handful of novels and is also the author of some forty original plays and theatrical adaptations. Thomas Gunzig has written novels and short stories, as well as plays and film scenarios. A creative writing teacher, he makes ends meet by penning humorous radio sketches. Willy Spillebeen is one of Belgium's major poets and novelists. Many of his books ascribe a universal dimension to his native Flanders. Bob Van Laerhoven has put together a varied oeuvre-novels, travel narratives, thrillers, short stories, and autobiographical writings-in which violence, humour, and sensuality are predominant features. Hubert van Lier, founder of the Academy of Writers, is a lifelong citizen of Antwerp, and a writer of detective novels.
