Île de Gorée Island

Gorée island has been chosen as a symbol and a place of memory. It is one of the historic sites where the destiny of thousands of Africans was played out over five centuries, victims of the slave trade. It is a place of recognition and reconsiliation for the African diaspora. UNESCO classified Gorée island as a world heritage site in 1978. Next to this bilingual publication there is also a contemplative film, 18'27 '', subtitled in French and English, where Sacha Ndoye, a native of the island, tells, in Wolof, the most fantastic tales of Goree. L'île de Gorée a été choisie comme symbole et comme lieu de mémoire. Elle est un des sites historiques où s'est joué le destin de milliers d'africains qui durant cinq siècles furent victime de la traite négrière.
C'est un des lieux ou la diaspora africaine trouve un espace de reconnaissance et de réconciliation.
