Description
Siegfried Anzinger, painter, draughtsman and a great storyteller, takes up the story of Saint Jerome, with his characteristic sense of humour and virtuoso drawing technique.
The drawings collected in this book, selected from a pool of 600 sheets, do not serve to prepare painted pictures; rather, they expand the Hieronymus-Lion territory in all possible directions. In the end, the saint feels constrained to remove himself to the height of a forked branch, where he - Geronimo con moto - can read undisturbed, not without a glance at the crucifix which is rooted below and faces a nearby village: a special version of the bottomtop theme - and the lion also comes to rest here.
