Description
A renowned sculptor, installation artist, filmmaker, author and human rights activist, Ai Weiwei is contemporary China's most well-known and influential artist. His work has attracted international attention for its criticism of the Chinese government. Much of Ai Weiwei's work is a reflection of his own feelings of imprisonment, rage and powerlessness. This book offers reproductions of the approximate 50 works in the exhibition, some of which were specially created for Berlin's Marin-Gropius-Bau museum, and some more specifically for the building's enormous glass-topped atrium. From large installations to smaller dioramas, these works present Ai's most recent artistic expressions of resistance, courage and historical truth.
