The essay is accompanied by a series of interviews the author conducted with artists, curators, and gallerists connected with the exhibition (Georg Baselitz, Rainer Fetting, Jean-Louis Froment, Tim Marlow, Norman Rosenthal, Nicholas Serota, Anthony d'Offay, Thaddaeus Ropac).
