Description
Recent works by the German sculptor, known above all for her combinations of Plexiglas and natural materials.
Night is the Earth's Shadow ~ Genesis is the first of two volumes by Swiss artist Vera Röhm (b. 1943) published by Kehrer Verlag focusing on recent works such as the large installations Laborinth (2021) and Globus (2023) and demonstrates the continuity of Röhm's work: I find the diversity of languages and texts on this globe astonishing. Night is the Earth's Shadow is a succinct phrase by Johann Leonhard Frisch, because anyone who can see can make the same observation: It gets dark in the evening and night falls. I began these groups of works in 1983 with this brief statement. The variations of the characters and the different grammars of the European and non-European languages, all these texts and translated aphorisms that one cannot understand, become an image, and the spoken languages become a sound.
