Description
Harry Clarke was an Irish stained-glass artist and book illustrator. Born in Dublin in 1889, he studied stained glass at the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art and he did a number of great works throughout his life. In 1913, he moved to London for a job as a book illustrator. His first printed work was a title Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales with more than his 40 llustrations. And the next publication Edgar Allan Poe's Tale of Mystery and Imagination made Harry famous. Despite his short life of only 42 years, he left numerous works in both fields of book illustration and stained-glass art.
As the comprehensive collection of Harry Clarke's works, this book introduces them by beautiful print and with detailed explanations . It is a must-have treasured book for the fan of 'The Golden Age of Illustration' (1880's - 1920's).
