Description
La Fábrica presents the complete guide to the International Photography and Visual Arts Festival PHotoESPAÑA 2018, which takes place between 6 June and 26 August 2018 and revolves around several genres and themes, such as portrait, collecting and Spanish photography.
This year's Carte Blanche-curated by Cristina de Middel and Martin Parr-brings together a selection of Magnum authors who have dared to play and have fun with photography. It also includes an anthological exhibition of works by Cameroonian photographer Samuel Fosso and the group exhibition Great World Finals.
The portrait genre is present at the Festival with the exhibition Cecil Beaton: Icons of the 20th Century, an author who portrayed British aristocracy and key figures in fashion, arts, culture and politics.
The importance of collecting photography is also dealt with, in a comprehensive show of Russian avant-garde photography with original works by El Lissitzky, Aleksandr Rodchenko and Georgi Zelma among many others.
There is also a panorama of Spanish photography, from the Pictorialism of Tomás de Arcillona to Carmen Calvo's interventions, a Carlos Cánovas retrospective, the most important series by Monserrat Soto and Ricardo Cases' photographic reflections on Eastern Spain.
The first edition of the TransEurope training programme and the 10th edition of the Trasatlántica forum-aimed to promote professional networking within the fields of photography and visual arts, and to contribute to international awareness of exhibitions on said fields-are also part of this year's edition.
