Workwear - Abiti da Lavoro

This book, published to accompany an exhibition at Triennale in Milan, is an example of how a multidisciplinary approach can be used to examine and inform. Work clothes are transformed from uniforms and the symbols of a profession into the expression of an individual identity, but also into a form of cladding that is at times far removed from its original function. This fascinating new study adopts a comprehensive approach to dress in terms of the work it is for and how the work people do transforms the way they dress.
Forty Italian and international designers are featured in this exhibition and catalogue, each one expressing his own idea of workwear. The designers featured include: Afran, Rodrigo Almeida, Gentucca Bini, Denise Bonapace, Andrea Branzi, Klaudio Cetina, CoopHimelb(l)au, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Elio Fiorucci, Nuala Goodman, Mella Jaarsma, Toshiyuiki Kita, Colomba Leddi, Franco Mazzucchelli, Issey Miyake, Frédérique Morrel, Clara Rota, Otto von Busch and Vivienne Westwood.
