Description
BOZAR pays tribute to Siena and its magnificent pictorial tradition. A perfect opportunity to see eighty exceptionally fine masterpieces that rarely leave the museums all over the world where they are kept but which will be on display at the Centre for Fine Arts in the framework of a collaboration with the prestigious Pinacoteca di Siena and the French Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen. They bear testimony to the revolutionary art that was created in Siena from the end of the thirteenth century until the end of the fifteenth century by such artists as the Lorenzetti Brothers, Duccio di Buoninsegna, Simone Martini and Sano di Pietro. These artists introduced perspective in their paintings, used landscapes as backdrops and worked with innovative colours. Their art fascinated the people of Siena and people all over Italy and ultimately would go on to influence artists all over Europe. Sienese figurative painting evolved over time, from the rigid patterns of late-Byzantine iconography to more classic, narrative works of art. In the past only a very select audience had access to this world full of treasures.
