Description
The line, time, the origins, and memory: these are the core elements of Peter Kim's work, focused on retrieving the sense of reality in the collisions between space and form, between nothingness and matter, detecting their essence in the outlines of timeless figures.
In his work, the repetition of lines is used as a visual mantra, a prayer composed of small interlinked signs, almost wanting to extract a universal measure from the inextricable tangle of lines. The drawing arises from a repeated gesture that acts upon space and builds a spider web on which to annex reality. Like the drop that furrows the stone, or like a sound that expands in grooves, the lines thicken until they cover up the hollow, confining and outlining it until a figure emerges.
The catalogue features texts by Maria Giovanna Musso and Rye Dag Holmboe, an interview with the artist and biographical notes.
