Description
San Nicola reMade: nine thousand Polaroid films by Maurizio Galimberti that recreate the mystical splendour of the Cappellone di San Nicola in Tolentino through a contemporary mosaic. A one-of-a-kind work in the history of photography, for its technique and difficulty, begun in 2010 and continued even after the earthquake of 2016.
Maurizio Galimberti is an Italian photographer known for his particular technique: Polaroid Mosaics, through which he found his own way of expressing dynamism by re-inventing reality. Born in Como, Italy in 1956, Maurizio Galimberti is an internationally renowned “instant artist” photographer and creator of the Dada Polaroid Movement. For the popularity and success of his unusual representations of faces and landscapes, he has participated as a portraitist in numerous editions of the Venice Film Festival. Particularly in 2003 when his portrait of Johnny Depp ended up being the cover of the English Times Magazine, in September of the same year.
