Description

This complete catalog documents the work on canvas and the sculptures of Achille Perilli, one of the greatest artists of the second post-war period, master founder of Forma1 (1947-52) - a prestigious group active in Rome in the field of abstract research. The cataloging - which covers the production from 1945 to 2016, and includes the works documented by the contemporary and later dispersed publications - is the result of a meticulous excavation work in the papers kept by the Perilli Archive, in Italian and foreign libraries, as well as a reconnaissance through public and private collections. A long chapter is dedicated to the life of the artist, whose events are reconstructed from his birth to January 2019: of great help in this were the writings of Perilli who, in parallel with his artistic practice, carried out an intense theoretical activity on his work, spanning over several expressive fields, in addition to the examination of correspondence and vintage photographs. A reference volume for the knowledge and deeper understanding of this fundamental artist.
