Description

Miquel Barceló is one of the most interesting artists, active today. Since over forty years, his poetics has embodied different languages such as painting, sculpture, graphics and publishing, in a great and very original artistic pathway. The exhibition in Faenza has been achieved through a dialogue between the artist and the MIC collection, unique in the world, which houses artefacts dating back to 3000 b. C. up to nowadays. Barceló generously proposed a project aiming at valorising the Museum and its collections, in particular the department devoted to Faenza ceramic art of the 15th and 16th centuries, that is the golden age of our maiolica, when the term “faience” spread all over the world just to name and define the art of maiolica. Thus this project proposes a dialogue between the past and the present, taking care and respecting the great history of a territory that has raised ceramic art to its heritage and cultural identity.
