Description
Claudio Capotondi's sculptures are works from other times, or perhaps even from future times, capable of representing the undertaking of a life spent drawing, planning, casting, but above all sculpting the material, without fear of facing the greatest challenge for a artist: that of monumentality.
Claudio Capotondi, born in Tarquinia in 1937, lived and worked between Rome and New York. The artist now resides in Pietrasanta, a city close to the Carrara marble quarries, and where he personally creates and sculpts his sculptures. To date, Capotondi has created nineteen works of public art around Italy, the United States, Japan and Libya, also holding monographic exhibitions in Rome, Florence, Turin, Carrara, Bari, New York, Paris and Finland, as well as exhibiting in group exhibitions around the world. In 2000, he received the Michelangelo Award from the city of Carrara. His sculptures can be admired in many public spaces and in public and private collections.
