Description

This visual atlas of the Bestiary of the Earth, the artistic project promoted in 2022 by the Reggio Parma Festival Association (made up of the Teatro Regio di Parma Foundation, the Teatro Due Foundation, the I Teatri di Reggio Emilia Foundation and the two cities of Parma and Reggio Emilia) returns to the reader the visionary and complex meta-work of Yuval Avital.

In this project the artist connects and puts different artistic languages into dialogue: from sound to performance, from painting to drawing, from video to icon-sound installations. All the stages in which his work unfolded came to life in different places and spaces in the provinces of Parma and Reggio Emilia, creating an intense dialogue with the territory. Their succession is reflected in the chapters of this 'atlas': Exquisite Anatomies in dialogue with the Spallanzani Collection, Civic Museums, Reggio Emilia; Il Canto dello Zooforo, Casa del Suono, Parma; Cadavre Exquis, Riunite Municipal Pharmacies Warehouse, Reggio Emilia; Animal Lexicon.

Prologue, APE Parma Museum, Parma; Membranes, Cloisters of San Pietro, Reggio Emilia; Mostrario part I, Teatro Regio, Parma; Mostrario part II, Teatro Due, Parma; Mostrario part III, Teatro Municipale Valli, Reggio Emilia; and also Persona (promoted by Parma 360 in collaboration with Reggio Parma Festival), Palazzo Marchi, Parma. The realization of the project included over 500 collaborations, including institutions, cultural associations, artistic workers, artisans, technicians, dancers, singers, musicians, performers, and counted more than 20,000 attendees at the events.
