Description

Following the success of the first edition, this publication accompanies the second season of largest European photography competition for amateurs and professionals (broadcasted by Sky Arts).

A challenge between twelve competitors on eight different topics, to declare the best photographer in Europe: best not only for his/her talent, but also for the ability to express him/herself in many fields of photography.

This volume covers the second edition of the successfull talent show of Sky Arts: not only a contest, but a true journey across the history of photography, techniques, and styles: through the pages of this book, readers can take part in the creation of a photograph beginning with its theme up to its actual realization and the final result. In order to guarantee the greatest level of quality on the part of the participants, the twelve competing photographers were subject to rigorous selection by some of the greatest European experts in the field: Oliviero Toscani (creative force behind some of the world’s most successful brands, creating through the years corporate images and advertising campaigns for companies such as Esprit, Chanel, Fiorucci, Prenatal and many more), Darcy Padilla (an American documentary photographer and photojournalist exhibited internationally and published in The New York Times , Le Monde , ELLE France , Wired , Rolling Stone , Granta , The New Yorker , and more) and Caroline Hunter (the Guardian Weekend magazine picture editor. Hunter has 20 years experience of producing, commissioning and art-directing photo-shoots for glossy magazines and supplements).

Through their perspective, readers may analyze the critical expertise needed in judging professional photography.
