This original exhibition will examine the patronage of Cardinal Richelieu and his inner circle, and the use this great statesman made of the visual arts of his era to promote his political and cultural vision of a new and unified France. It will focus on the grandiose period between 1620 and 1642-1643 and present over two hundred works - paintings, sculpture, prints and drawing, architectural plans, maquettes and decorative art objects - by such famous artists as Ph. de Champaigne, Ch.
