Description
Desiderius Erasmus (1466-1536) is one of the greatest Dutchmen of all time and this exhibition shows why his name is still so widely known today. Important themes in Erasmus' work, such as education, war, religion and satire, are represented by art from his time. Portraits and personal objects show the man behind the ideas. The exhibition includes masterpieces from collections at home and abroad by masters like Hans Holbein, Quinten Massys and Albrecht Dürer, some of these paintings are on show in the Netherlands for the first time.
