Description

This book will accompany Veronique Branquinho's first retrospective exhibition at the Fashion Museum of Antwerp. The book will contain texts by Cathy Horyn (New York Times), Oscar Van den Boogaard, Kaat Debo and Christoph Ruys.
Furthermore this publication will give an overview of Veronique Branquinho's collections since 1997, as well as unique photo material

Veronique Branquinho graduated from the Fashion department at the Antwerp Academy in 1995. In 1997 she presented her own collection in a gallery in Paris, followed by her first show the following season. The theme of female duality, the transition from girl to woman is an important theme in Branquinho's oeuvre. This topic is reflected in the sources of inspiration she chooses: David Hamilton's romantic photography, ambiguous characters like Laura Palmer from David Lynch's Twin Peaks or Emanuelle from the erotic picture that has the same name. In 1998 she received the prestigious VH1 Fashion Award in New York for best newcomer. In 2003 she started a men's collection and opened her own shop in Antwerp. Since 2005 she has been a teacher at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
